Systems Administrator Intern
Description
We have an opening in our IT department for a Systems Administrator Intern. IT interns work with a wide-ranging set of technologies and are expected to learn on the job. Our ideal candidate will be someone that can definitely:
- Demonstrate interest in Systems or Network Administration through either formal or self-directed education
- Solve problems creatively and with persistence
- Work independently without step-by-step directions
As a company we provide IT admin, software, and data-science services in the areas of medical decision support, data visualization, collaboration tools, and regulatory fieldwork. We build web, desktop, and mobile applications. Our clients include the federal government, academic research, and private industry. We also have a SaaS group focused on time management and project management products. Our firm is ~20 individuals, all working remotely. This position is also remote.
If selected, you’ll receive an intentional, empathetic mentoring experience, working with a seasoned systems administration team, and exposure to a range of interesting projects.
Core requirements (You’ll need all of these, no exceptions)
- Demonstrable interest in Systems Administration
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Must be a strong self-starter and able to work well independently with honesty and integrity
- Must be eligible for employment in the USA
- Must pass US Government background check
- Resident of Whatcom/Skagit County
Technologies you may work with (No prior experience required)
- Web servers (nginx/IIS)
- Configuration management (Ansible)
- Container technologies (Docker/docker-compose/Kubernetes)
- CI/CD Methodology & Tools (Jenkins/Github Actions/CodePipeline)
- Cloud Computing (AWS/Azure)
- Scripting languages (PowerShell/Bash)
- Office 365 and Google Apps for Work

Rate: This is a paid internship with compensation depending on qualifications and/or experience
